I. Elizabeth (Elizabeth m. John Pride) Her last name is not recorded. John
probably married her in England.
II. LOVERING (Jane Lovering m. John Pride, Jr.)
1. William Lovering was born in England. He settled at Sheepscot, Maine,
when he came to America, and married Margaret Gutch in 1650. He evi-
dently moved to Beverly, Mass., and died there in 1691.
2. Jane Lovering, of Beverly, Mass., married John Pride, Jr.
III. THORNDYKE (Hannah Thorndyke m. William Pride)
1. John Thorndyke came from England to Boston in 1630. He first married
Elizabeth Stratton and then Alice Coleman.
In 1633 John was a founder of Ipswich, Mass. He later returned to
England to live, leaving his son Paul in America.
John died in England in 1668/70.
A. STRATTON (Elizabeth m. John Thorndyke)
This name also appears in our early Virginia ancestry. I have
a note that says that the Stratton book traces the family to the
fourth century, but haven't seen the book. I wonder if Edward of
Virginia and Samuel of New England were related. They both came
from England.
a. Samuel Stratton b. ca. 1562, came from England to Watertown,
Mass., in 1633 or 1647. He was a Freeman in 1653. He
married Alice --- in England. She died in 1657 and John died
in 1672.

2. Paul Thorndyke m. Mary Patch
A. PATCH
a. Nicholas Patch was the son of Nicholas Patch of South
Petherton, Somertshire, England, and his wife Jane ---. His
wife and two sons, John and James, accompanied him to America.
They settled at Salem, Mass., in 1636.

3. Hannah Thorndyke m. Capt. William Pride in 1693.
